. The covers surmounted by mythical guardian lion-dogs or Komainu .Painted in the traditional Imari palette of pale and colbalt blues and iron-red enamels , with alternating vignettes or panels of floral and landscape decoration featuring chrysanthemums and peonies .

In excellent original condition with only minor losses to the gilding of the lion-dog finials commensurate with age and handling .
