This early Moorcroft miniature flower vase dates from 1920 in the Arts and Crafts style. The piece takes a baluster shape with a flared rim and is made from glazed earthenware. The ceramic body carries a tubelined fruit pattern depicting pomegranates against a dark cobalt blue ground, finished with a glossy glaze in shades of red, orange, and blue. It stands 11 cm high, 5.5 cm wide, and 5.5 cm deep. Today, this decorative vase serves as an ornamental display piece on a mantelpiece within an English Country House interior. The object suits placement on a side table, shelf, or cabinet where small ceramic works are showcased. The compact scale allows easy integration into traditional or collected living spaces.

Arts and Crafts art pottery emphasises hand-craftsmanship, stylized botanical motifs, and expressive glazing techniques. Emerging in the late nineteenth century as a reaction against industrial mass production, pieces from this movement feature decorative slip-trailing, rich jewel tones, and organic silhouettes.

Tubelined ceramics were typically crafted from earthenware clay and decorated using liquid clay (slip) piped through a fine nozzle to create raised outlines. Artisans then applied coloured glaze washes within these raised borders before firing the vessel to produce a distinct, three-dimensional decorative surface.

Authentic pieces are identified by impressed factory marks, stamped design numbers, or hand-painted artist signatures on the underside. Additionally, genuine examples feature raised tubelining rather than flat printed patterns, accompanied by characteristic glaze crazing consistent with age.

A miniature decorative vase works well when placed on a mantelpiece, styled alongside framed art, or displayed on a curated bookshelf. Positioning small ceramics within a gallery arrangement adds texture, historical depth, and rich colour contrast to contemporary neutral interiors.

Glazed earthenware should be lightly dusted with a soft, dry cloth or gentle brush. Avoid immersing antique ceramics in water or using harsh chemical cleaners, as moisture can seep through existing glaze crazing and damage the porous clay body beneath.
