Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Haberdashery and office cabinets from the nineteenth century were specialised storage pieces built for commercial establishments, law offices, and administrative spaces. They featured tailored drawer arrangements, often with drop-fronts or shallow trays, designed specifically to organise documents, ledger books, or textile goods.

These cabinets were typically constructed using solid mahogany or pine frames veneered with highly figured flame mahogany. Drawer construction usually features hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings, and cast brass handles or latches.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display signs of age such as uneven timber shrinkage, hand-sawn board marks on back panels, and hand-cut dovetails. Original hardware often shows minor casting irregularities, natural oxidisation, and individual hand-fitted screws.

A dark mahogany cabinet creates strong visual contrast when set against light neutral walls or modern minimalist decor. Position it in a contemporary home office, hallway, or living area to serve as a functional focal point alongside modern artwork and minimalist accessories.

Keep mahogany furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber movement and veneer fading. Dust regularly with a clean, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the finish.
