witchantiques.com has dated this Georgian Leather Coaching Trunk to the 19th Century.
Camphor wood has always been used to deter moths whilst the leather surface has a weatherproof finish. This particular box has a name plate reading E.LANCASTER and a very rare feature of original red sealing wax, obviously attempting to deter intrusions. The remaining wax is either side of the working lock (two keys). They make great storage/coffee tables. All cleaned and wax polished ready to go.
