Victorian glassware encompasses a wide range of production techniques and aesthetic movements, spanning from ornate, heavily decorated pieces to vibrant coloured glass such as cranberry and vaseline glass.

Cranberry glass is produced by adding gold chloride or metallic gold to molten glass, which creates a distinct pink to deep red hue upon reheating and oxidation.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil marks on the base, minor surface irregularities from hand-blowing or moulding, and appropriate wear consistent with age.

Displaying coloured glassware on open shelving, within glass-front cabinets, or utilizing them functionally during dinner parties introduces vibrant colour and historical texture to modern spaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding harsh abrasives, ultrasonic cleaners, and sudden temperature shifts.
