A superb late 19th.Century Pollard oak secretaire bookcase of exceptional quality and condition. The removable cornice with moulded detail and pollard frieze above 2 plate glazed doors with fluted stiles. The doors open to 3 adjustable shelves all retaining the original tooled leather dust covers with brass studded detail. The base section having a deep secretaire drawer with panelled front, foliage carved centre panel and top quality cast brass handles. The hinged drop down fall opens to reveal a wonderful satinwood interior consisting of 4 pigeonholes above a wide drawer and flanked by 2 banks of 3 drawers all retaining the original handles. The dark leather and gilt tooled writing surface is original and does show signs of wear but is functional. Below are a pair offended panelled doors with beautifully foliage carved centres and again with original brass cast handles.
