A very good and substantial early 19th century 2 part Dutch marquetry bureau of bombe form and fully oak lined. The mahogany ground having superb marquetry inlay throughout. The serpentine shaped fall having 2 marquetry baskets of flowers in exotic timbers and mother of pearl set within satinwood “C” scrolls. The fall opens to reveal a wonderful inlaid interior consisting of a small central cupboard with drawer and shelf interior between 2 turned columns with brass capitals.The interior is completed with 2 banks of 5 shaped drawers all with further floral marquetry and brass pulls. The exterior having 4 shaped and graduated drawers with floral marquetry inlay and retaining all the original brass handles and escutcheons.The marquetry canted sides joining a shaped and inlaid frieze with attractive applied mouldings and the whole raised on hairy ball and claw feet.
