Description

A beautiful French kingwood and ormolu mounted petit commode or side cabinet of breakfront outline by Francoise Linke (1855-1946), circa 1895-1900. The beautiful marble top with a moulded edge, above an impressive gilt bronze mounted frieze. The vertical supports are flanked by acanthus scrolled corbel mounts, one signed ‘Linke’. The curved door panels and side panels with exquisite trellis marquetry centred with oval marquetry scene decorated with flowers and musical instruments. Original gilt bronze key with coronet detail opens to reveal fitted interior comprising two shelves. All standing on elegant cabriole legs with further gilt bronze mounts, terminating in cloven hoof sabots.
