The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
There are also partial hallmarks inside the lid.
The oval, facetted narrow body has an excellent bright cut engraved design of swagged drapes and flowers. The spout is also decorated with trailing foliate designs. The ebonised wooden handle is well shaped and carved. The hinged lid rises to a dome decorated with a bright cut surround and surmounted by a fabulous pineapple finial. There are different initials on each oval cartouche.
