Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. FAQs

Housekeepers cupboards were traditionally utilized in large country houses during the 18th and 19th centuries by domestic staff to store provisions, linens, and dry goods before the advent of modern refrigeration.

These pieces were typically constructed from sturdy native timbers such as pine, oak, or elm, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged framing, and recessed panel doors designed to withstand heavy domestic use.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the timber for hand-planed surfaces, historical tool marks, iron or brass butterfly hinges, and layers of period paint showing natural crazing and oxidisation over time.

Such pieces serve as functional focal points in modern kitchens, dining rooms, or hallways, offering substantial vertical storage while introducing historical character and muted colour to minimalist or transitional spaces.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to protect the painted finish, and cleaning gently with a dry, soft cloth without harsh chemical solvents.
