Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain refers to hard-paste porcelain ceramics produced in the Arita area of Japan and exported via the port of Imari. Originating in the seventeenth century, the style is characterised by underglaze cobalt blue paired with overglaze iron red and gilded decorative enamelling.

Traditional Imari wares were crafted from local kaolin clay fired at high temperatures to produce a durable vitreous porcelain body. Artisans painted cobalt oxide underglaze designs before a primary firing, followed by the hand application of overglaze iron red enamels and gilding for a final lower-temperature firing.

Authentic pieces generally display indications of hand production, such as faint foot rim irregularities, minor spur marks on the base, and hand-painted glaze variations. The decorative palette classically centres on rich cobalt blue, iron red, and yellow or orange accents.

An Imari plate can be elevated on a wooden display stand atop sideboards, positioned within a bookshelf, or mounted as part of a gallery wall. Its contrasting dark blue and rust tones complement both dark wood furniture and minimalist contemporary backdrops.

Clean Imari porcelain using lukewarm water with a mild liquid soap and a soft non-abrasive cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, and dishwashers, as these can wear away surface enamels and gilding over time.
