The lower half is also panelled and the cupboard stands on block feet with an overhanging cornice.
It is a versatile piece of furniture - perfect for use as a wardrobe or hallway storage but it could also be shelved to allow for linen storage or food storage.
It is a very primitive piece and shows its age with a pegged construction and thick rough hand-sawn planks on the back and top.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. It is strong and sturdy and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There are of course signs of age and use, some light knocks and marks, splits and some minor repairs but nothing untoward or detrimental. There are some signs of historic woodworm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically.
