Art Deco jewellery, prominent from the 1920s to the 1940s, is characterised by geometric symmetry, stylised motifs, and the widespread use of platinum paired with contrasting gemstones like sapphires, rubies, and diamonds.

Authentic period rings from this era predominantly utilised platinum for its strength and fine white lustre, alongside high-carat yellow or white gold, set with natural unheated sapphires and old European or transitional cut diamonds.

Authenticity is identified through hallmarks, hand-cut stones displaying irregular facets typical of the period, intricate millegrain detailing, and open-work filigree construction rather than modern cast production methods.

An antique cocktail ring serves as a statement centrepiece that complements both tailored evening wear and minimalist contemporary ensembles, adding historical texture and a subtle splash of colour.

Preservation requires professional cleaning using ultrasonic-safe methods only when stones are secure, avoiding harsh chemical exposures, and storing pieces individually in lined velvet boxes to prevent scratching.
