Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Silverplated wine coolers gained prominence during the 19th century as a more accessible alternative to solid silver vessels, allowing the middle and upper classes to chill wine and champagne elegantly at the dining table.

These pieces are typically constructed from a base metal such as copper or Britannia metal, which is then coated in a layer of silver using methods like Sheffield plating or the later electroplating technique introduced in the 1840s.

Authentic 19th-century pieces often feature characteristic makers marks, traditional cast mounts, hand-applied borders, and signs of genuine wear, such as subtle base metal show-through on high points.

They can be utilised as functional barware on a sideboard, repurposed as floral vases for central arrangements, or displayed on a dining table to introduce metallic texture and historic contrast to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the surface by cleaning with a specialised non-abrasive silver polish, handling with clean cloths to prevent tarnishing from skin oils, and storing them in a dry, stable environment away from direct sunlight.
