Victorian jewellery spans the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901) and is typically divided into three distinct periods: Romantic, Grand, and Aesthetic, each featuring specific motifs and materials influenced by the Queens life and historical events.

Pinchbeck is an alloy of copper and zinc invented in the 18th century by Christopher Pinchbeck to imitate gold, prized for its ability to retain its lustre and warm tone without tarnishing easily.

Authentic pieces often feature period-specific findings such as C-clasps, tubular hinges, hand-cut gemstones, and specific metal compositions consistent with 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

Antique brooches can be worn pinned to lapels, scarves, and hats, or displayed within shadow box frames as miniature works of art on gallery walls.

Clean pinchbeck and amethyst gently using a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove oils, avoiding harsh chemical dips, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged exposure to water.
