A Victorian boat ring, sometimes referred to as a navette style, features a curved, elongated cluster setting resembling the hull of a boat, popular during the 19th century.

These rings were traditionally crafted from 18ct or 15ct yellow gold, often set with natural gemstones such as rubies, diamonds, or sapphires secured in claw or collet settings.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-carved shoulders, closed or open-backed foil settings depending on the era, and British hallmarks indicating the metal purity and assay office.

An antique gold ring pairs well with contemporary minimalist stacking bands or can be worn alone as a statement piece to add historical character to modern outfits.

Rubies should be cleaned using warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh chemical ultrasonic cleaners, and stored separately to prevent scratching the gold and softer stones.
