An Edwardian pair of Scottish sterling silver chocolate pots demonstrates the refined style associated with Robert Stewart of Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, silversmith to Queen Victoria. The pieces show a bright silver finish across their tapered bodies and domed lids, complemented by dark carved wooden handles and small silver finials on top. Assay marks for London from 1904, alongside the maker mark RS and the sterling lion passant, appear crisp and clear, while the clean interior reveals no damage. Each pot measures 18 cm high by 7.5 cm wide and 7.5 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this pair suits display upon a dining room sideboard top or within a drawing room cabinet. The classic profile integrates well into traditional English country house interiors, bringing period character to a collection of silverware. The durable silver construction and pristine condition allow for practical service or elegant decorative placement.

Early 20th-century silver chocolate pots feature tapered or cylindrical bodies designed to retain heat, fitted with insulated wooden handles and hinged lids specifically crafted for serving hot chocolate drinks.

These vessels are typically crafted from sterling silver, stamped with hallmarks to guarantee purity, and feature carved hardwood or ebony handles to isolate heat from the metal body.

Authentic pieces carry official British hallmarks including the makers mark, town mark (such as Edinburgh or Glasgow), silver purity mark, and date letter corresponding to the specific year of manufacture.

A pair of antique silver pots can be displayed on a sideboard top, curated within a glazed cabinet, or arranged as decorative accents on a dining table.

Clean silver gently with a specialised polishing cloth or non-abrasive cream, taking care to avoid immersing organic wooden handles in water to prevent warping.
