This pair of Edwardian photograph frames originates from 1910 and bears hallmarks from Birmingham. Each piece consists of sterling silver mounted on a wooden easel back with a glass plate protecting the aperture. The silver elements display an engine-turned striped pattern decorated with engraved fleur-de-lis motifs, curved crest tops, shaped feet at the base, and moulded borders framing the central oval openings. The frames stand 20 cm high and 14 cm wide. In a contemporary home, these silver frames suit placement on a mantelpiece, living room side table, or bedroom desk to display cherished photographs. The combination of silver, glass, and mahogany construction integrates well into traditional and classic interior schemes. The antique silver finish catches light in domestic settings while providing stable support via the folding wooden struts on the reverse. These items function as decorative desk accessories and practical picture holders.

Edwardian silver photo frames date from the early 20th century (19011910) and typically display delicate repousse or engraved patterns, such as fleur-de-lis, ribbons, and stripes, created to show off portrait photography.

These frames were made by applying a thin sheet of embossed or engraved sterling silver onto a sturdy wood or velvet backing, complete with an easel stand and glass front.

Authentic British pieces bear official silver hallmarks, including a makers mark, assay office mark, standard mark such as the lion passant for sterling silver, and a date letter from the Edwardian period.

Placing a pair of silver frames on a modern console table, mantelpiece, or bedside table introduces metallic shine and classic historic detail to contemporary decor.

Dust the frames with a soft microfibre cloth and clean periodically using a silver polishing cloth, avoiding liquid polishes that can stain or warp the fabric or wooden backing.
