Edwardian jewellery, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, is characterised by delicate craftsmanship, platinum settings, and the prominent use of diamonds and pearls, often inspired by garland-style motifs.

These pieces typically utilised high-karat gold or platinum for enhanced durability and strength, frequently paired with natural pearls, rose-cut or old mine-cut diamonds, and intricate millegrain detailing.

Authentic pieces often feature period-specific hallmarks, hand-cut gemstones with slight irregularities, closed-back settings in earlier items, and fine millegrain edges applied by hand rather than modern machinery.

Vintage brooches can be secured to lapels of tailored blazers, used to fasten silk scarves, or pinned to the waistbands of trousers to introduce a subtle touch of historic elegance to modern attire.

Antique pieces should be cleaned gently using a soft microfibre cloth and warm soapy water, avoiding harsh chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaners which can damage delicate pearls and secure settings.
