Price: £395.00 for the pair, inclusive of UK mainland postage.
Finely decorated in the famille rose palette, these elegant Chinese export porcelain plates feature an engaging narrative scene depicting figures within an interior and garden setting.

Each plate is centred with a finely painted scene of three male figures, including a young boy and an older youth holding a bird of prey, whilst the eldest figure is depicted smoking a pipe. All three figures gaze upwards towards a female figure looking out from a window, creating an intriguing and animated composition.

The central decoration is framed by four distinctive puce-pink cartouches, each containing delicately painted rocky landscape scenes. The surrounding rim is decorated with a finely executed continuous band of linked flowerheads and foliage, with the outer rim edge enhanced by a soft blown wash, providing an attractive finishing detail.

The combination of famille rose enamelling, detailed figural decoration and elegant floral borders makes this an appealing pair of 18th-century Chinese porcelain plates. They would make an attractive addition to a collection of Chinese export porcelain, famille rose ceramics or Georgian-period decorative antiques.

Condition:
Both plates are in good antique condition overall, with some damage consistent with their age.
• One plate has two hairline cracks and three small rim-edge chips, as illustrated in the photographs.

• The second plate is in considerably better condition, with only a very minor rim-edge frit.
Please refer to the photographs for a full representation of the condition.
