Antique Victorian Walnut Glazed Bookcase | Cupboard Base

Antique late 19th century Victorian glazed bookcase in walnut, a handsome and well-proportioned piece of good quality, showcasing fine craftsmanship and a lovely warm timber.

The upper section has a pair of glazed doors with arched tops enclosing adjustable shelves, with a ring handle to the door. The base has two frieze drawers with pierced brass handles over a pair of fielded panelled cupboard doors, opening to shelved compartments either side of a central divide.

The bookcase is crowned with a stepped cornice with a dentil frieze, the base has reeded canted corners and a moulded top forming a useful serving ledge, and it stands on a plinth base. The back is of traditional pine plank construction.

The walnut displays an attractive figured grain and a warm, rich golden colour with a lovely mellow patina.

The bookcase comes apart in two sections for ease of delivery and access. Presented in good condition commensurate with age. A very desirable Victorian walnut bookcase, a perfect addition to any study, living room, dining room or hallway.
