This Edwardian bar brooch dates to approximately 1910 and is made from silver gilt set with glass paste stones. The elongated design measures 1.5 cm high, 10.5 cm wide, and 2 cm deep. A central cushion-cut pink paste stone is held in an openwork filigree frame featuring millegrain detail, accompanied by additional clear and pink paste stones along the openwork structure. The silver gilt finish presents a bright silver tone alongside warm gilt edges and reverse, complemented by delicate engraved scrolling garlands. The long bar construction incorporates a pin that fits into a recessed keeper at one end. Today, this piece serves as a decorative accessory for daily wear, fastening easily to a coat lapel, dress front, or hat. Its timeless Edwardian style complements both contemporary and vintage garments in a home wardrobe. The slender form secures simply through fabric while adding subtle sparkle via the coloured glass stones and openwork metal wirework.

Edwardian bar brooches typically feature elongated horizontal silhouettes crafted from silver or platinum, incorporating light openwork filigree, millegrain borders, and central gemstone or paste accents popular between 1901 and 1910.

These brooches were commonly made using silver gilt or sterling silver, set with high-lead content glass stones known as paste, which were faceted to imitate diamonds, sapphires, rubies, or topazes.

Authentic pieces often display delicate openwork metalwork, hand-cut paste stones, long pin stems extending beyond the frame, and simple C-clasps or safety barrel clasps standard for the era.

An antique bar brooch can be pinned horizontally across a coat collar, attached to the lapel of a structured blazer, or used to secure a silk scarf for a classic accent.

Silver gilt paste jewellery should be gently wiped with a soft, dry cloth and kept away from moisture or chemical cleaners, as water can damage the foil backing behind paste stones and cause tarnishing to the gilt layer.
