Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This French chateau style chandelier dates to 1920 and works as a statement ceiling light in living rooms, dining rooms, or hallways. The construction incorporates a brass frame holding five faux candle sleeves in a yellow tone, decorated with clear glass beaded swags, pink glass teardrop pendants, and glass leaf motifs hanging from the arms and tiers. The visible metal finish has a warm brass tone complementing the soft pink glass elements throughout the design. Measuring 64 cm high, 43 cm wide, and 43 cm deep, this wired and tested lighting fixture suspends from a matching ceiling rose via a linked chain.

FAQs

French chandeliers from the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries often feature a central cast metal cage or lyre-shaped frame embellished with hand-cut or pressed glass drops, beaded swags, and leaf motifs designed to amplify light distribution.

These lighting fixtures traditionally utilise cast brass, bronze, or wrought iron for the structural framework, combined with moulded or cut glass and crystal droplets wired together using fine brass pinned links.

Authentic pieces feature signs of aged patina on the brass or bronze metalwork, hand-twisted wire links connecting the glass drops, unevenness consistent with historical glass manufacture, and older candle-sleeve coverings.

A classic French chandelier can serve as a focal point when positioned above a contemporary dining table, centered in a bedroom, or suspended in an entryway to contrast ornate historical metalwork with modern, minimalist interior surfaces.

Dust the frame and glass elements regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, and clean individual glass drops using a specialized glass cleaner applied to a cloth rather than sprayed directly onto the electrical wiring.
