This Edwardian silver and vitreous enamel trinket box originates from London in 1910, bearing clear hallmarks on the lid alongside maker and retailer marks for the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company of 112 Regent Street. The circular sterling silver vessel has a polished silver finish paired with a gilt lining inside, plus a functioning hinge and secure closure. Set into the lid is a prominent central cartouche displaying a light blue engine-turned guilloche enamel medallion, enclosed within a deep red enamel border decorated with a silver wave scroll motif. Minor old cleaning marks appear on the base, while the exterior shows a smooth, reflective surface with soft highlights across the curved contours. Measuring 3.5 cm high, 7 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, this lidded container suits placement on a bedside table, dressing table, or mantelpiece for storing small valuables. The English country house aesthetic integrates easily into traditional and modern interiors alike, functioning as a practical container and a decorative accessory within domestic spaces.

Edwardian guilloche enamel silverware, produced between 1901 and 1910, features geometric patterns carved into metal using an engine-turning lathe, which are subsequently covered with translucent coloured enamel.

These boxes were constructed from sterling silver and decorated with vitreous enamel, a glass-based compound fused to the metal surface under high heat.

Authentic British pieces feature official assay hallmarks, including a date letter, town mark, lion passant for sterling purity, and makers mark, alongside genuine vitreous enamel rather than modern synthetic resin.

Small decorative silver items function as functional accents on a bedside table, dressing table, or placed atop stacked books on a display surface.

Clean the silver metal gently using a dedicated silver polishing cloth, avoiding chemical dips, abrasive polishes, or submersion in liquid that could damage the enamel inlay.
