This Art Deco brooch dates from 1920. It takes the form of an elongated bar measuring 6cm in length with a depth of 0.9cm at the centre point, made from platinum with a silver colour and set with diamonds. The piece incorporates a central collet-set diamond of approximately 0.2ct alongside small rose-cut diamonds in milgrain settings. Geometric filigree openwork detail runs along the length, complemented by a central lozenge motif. Additional visible elements include a trombone pin clasp and minor signs of wear commensurate with age and use. The brooch is tested as platinum with no hallmark and comes presented in an antique box. It is suitable for personal wear as a brooch or tie pin in a contemporary home.

Art Deco bar brooches, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, feature linear geometric shapes, symmetrical openwork, and fine filigree detail, representing the modern industrial aesthetics of the era.

These brooches were commonly crafted from platinum or white gold to securely hold precious gemstones, frequently incorporating diamonds, sapphires, or emeralds set with fine milgrain borders.

Authentic pieces generally show precise hand-finished milgrain detailing, platinum or high-carat metal purity marks, geometric filigree piercing, and era-appropriate pin closures such as safety catches.

A classic bar brooch can be pinned to the lapel of a tailored blazer, secured at the collar of a button-down shirt, used to fasten a silk scarf, or placed as an accent on a fabric handbag.

Clean gently using lukewarm water, mild liquid soap, and a soft-bristle brush, avoiding harsh chemicals, and store separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratching adjacent jewellery.
