This antique Art Deco champagne cooler is made of silver-plated metal and dates from around 1920, bearing the makers' marks of Hutton of Sheffield, England. The circular vessel presents a polished silver finish with natural tarnishing and wear visible across the surface, including patches of golden tarnish and darker areas of age. Horizontal reeded bands encircle the upper and lower sections, while two open angular handles rise vertically from the rim. A small circular crest is engraved centrally on the body, accompanied by a stamped mark on the base. Standing at 22.5 cm high, 18 cm wide, and 18 cm deep, the cooler is sized to hold bottles or ice for a gathering. In a modern interior, this piece sits neatly on top of a dining room sideboard, home bar, or drinks trolley to serve guests during dinner parties and celebrations, combining period design with practical utility.

Art Deco barware from the 1920s and 1930s is characterised by clean geometric lines, streamlined silhouettes, and functional elegance, reflecting the modern aesthetic shift away from Victorian ornamentation.

These vessels were typically constructed from a base metal, such as nickel silver or brass, electroplated with a layer of fine silver, and finished with hand-soldered handles and reeded rim details.

Authentic Sheffield silver-plated pieces usually display makers marks, such as the cross and arrow or manufacturer initials for William Hutton & Sons, alongside numerical production codes stamped onto the base.

An antique silver wine cooler can be displayed on a sideboard, bar cart, or kitchen island, functioning either as a functional drink-chilling vessel during entertaining or as a decorative container for floral displays.

Clean silver-plated items using a soft cloth and a non-abrasive silver polish to prevent wearing through the electroplated layer, ensuring the piece is dried thoroughly after use to avoid tarnishing.
