Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Edwardian serving tray comes in silver plate, presenting an oval silhouette finished in a bright silver colour with an aged patina. The piece displays elaborate foliate engraving across the central surface, bounded by a pierced gallery border and finished with a beaded rim around the outer edge. The reflective metal surface shows visible signs of historical wear and gentle surface marks consistent with age and regular use over the decades. Measuring 3.5 cm high by 56 cm wide and 35.5 cm deep, the tray offers a practical surface for display or serving. In a contemporary home, this serving piece suits placement on a sideboard top or a side table within an English Country House interior. The silver-plated surface provides a functional display base for glassware, decanters, or decorative accessories in a dining room, living area, or hallway. The traditional design and detailed engraving lend character to period settings as well as contrasting modern interior schemes.

FAQs

Edwardian silver plated trays typically feature delicate foliate surface engraving, pierced gallery borders, and classic geometric or oval forms produced during the early twentieth century.

These items were crafted using electroplating, a process that bonded a layer of pure silver onto a durable base metal, such as electroplated nickel silver (EPNS).

Authentic pieces usually display stamped makers marks or EPNS designations, appropriate age-related wear showing the base metal underneath, and refined hand-engraved surface details.

An antique silver tray can be placed on a sideboard, coffee table, or bar cart to group crystal glassware, decanters, or decorative accessories.

Clean silver plate using a specialized non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cotton cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dip cleaners that can strip the delicate plated layer.
