Billy Hunt and Co is located on a large Victorian farm just a short country drive from the Rangemore village, a designated conservation area, which was built by Michael Thomas Bass in the 1850s to house the Bass Rangemore Estate workers consisting mainly of Victorian redbrick cottages and the occasional barn.

Our home is a classic Victorian designed and well equipped late 19th century 2 story red brick built barn of some 4000 sq feet nestled in classic English countryside, which enjoyed a careful full renovation in 2000. The estate still benefits being managed in the traditional manner with an Estate Manger, estate carpenter, gardeners etc. A rather delightful place to have as our work space.

Martina, there is no Billy at Billy hunt, has led the team since 2103 and is an interior designer qualified from The Inchbald School of Design London whose previous working life included such clients as Vertu, Aston Martin and Johnnie Walker to name a few.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions on the pieces that may interest you - Many thanks Martina

This Rubery Owen blade workshop stool from the 1930s is an industrial piece made from steel and hardwood. The item combines a circular wooden seat in a rich mid-brown tone with a dark brown metal tripod base and a threaded height adjustment spindle. Visible details include three spherical ball feet at the base of the metal legs and an aged industrial paint finish. The stool measures width 44 cm by depth 42 cm with an adjustable height. In a modern home, this piece works well as an accent seat placed at the end of a sofa or as a compact stool in a workspace or living area. The sturdy tripod construction provides stable seating while maintaining a minimalist industrial loft aesthetic.

Industrial workshop seating from the early 20th century was designed for utility, durability, and ergonomics within manufacturing, laboratory, and drafting environments. These pieces typically feature heavy-duty steel or iron bases paired with solid wooden seats, incorporating manual height-adjustment mechanisms such as threaded central spindles.

Traditional industrial stools were constructed using pressed steel, cast iron, or tubular steel for the structural legs and base framework. The seating surfaces were predominantly made from dense hardwoods like beech, oak, or pine to withstand rigorous daily use.

Authentic pieces often feature stamped manufacturer branding, embossed metal plates, or distinct structural design traits specific to mid-century industrial suppliers. Look for functional construction features such as heavy rivets, threaded iron adjustment screws, and evidence of historical surface wear.

An industrial stool serves effectively as an occasional accent seat, a side table beside a sofa, or a plant stand. Its functional aesthetic provides visual contrast when paired alongside upholstered contemporary furniture, minimalist decor, or modern rustic interiors.

Dust the timber seat regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply natural beeswax polish periodically to protect the wood finish. Keep the metal frame dry to prevent active oxidisation, and apply a light machine oil to any threaded adjustment mechanisms to maintain smooth operation.
