Victorian scent bottles often combined fine ceramics with hallmarked sterling silver mounts, reflecting the high craftsmanship and vanity trends of the late nineteenth century.

These pieces typically featured glazed hard-paste porcelain or ceramic bodies, decorated with hand-painted motifs, and fitted with screw-on or hinged sterling silver caps.

Authenticity is verified through clear metal hallmarks indicating the maker, assay office, and date of manufacture, alongside period-appropriate ceramic bodies and hand-applied enamelling or gilding.

Such small collectables work well displayed on mirrored trays, dressing table surfaces, or within glass cabinets where their intricate details can be closely observed.

Preservation involves handling with clean hands to protect silver surfaces from skin oils, storing them away from direct sunlight, and cleaning the silver sparingly with appropriate non-abrasive polishes.
