We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Art Deco silver tableware is defined by an emphasis on geometric symmetry, bold repeating motifs, and streamlined forms. Departing from elaborate Victorian florals, pieces from this era integrated functional design with abstract, architectural patterns.

These stands were constructed using a sheet of sterling or plate silver pierced with lattice or starburst patterns, then mounted directly onto a tempered or cut glass base. This dual-layer structure allowed heat from a teapot to disperse while shielding tabletop surfaces from moisture.

Authentic British examples bear clear hallmarks stamped on the metal rim, denoting silver purity, assay office, maker, and date. Original pieces feature crisp geometric fretwork and appropriate historical wear along the base rim rather than uniform modern machine finishes.

A silver teapot stand can be positioned on a sideboard or coffee table tray as an elevated base for decanters, pillar candles, or small floral vases. The metallic fretwork adds a subtle reflective accent that aligns with both contemporary and traditional settings.

Gently wipe the silver rim using a soft microfibre cloth treated with silver polish, taking care to avoid abrasive rubbing. Avoid submerging multi-material pieces in water to prevent liquid from collecting between the glass and metal rim.
