This unusual Victorian pin cushion dates from 1890 in the Rococo taste and takes a circular wheel form. The piece is constructed from silver and dark red velvet, finished with a silver suspension loop at the top and a pierced frame. The front and back panels display repousse relief decoration of cherubs playing in a garden, with clear hallmarks visible on the metalwork. The original cushion pad shows surface wear commensurate with its age and use. Measuring 4 cm high, 4 cm wide, and 1 cm deep, this small collector's piece is designed for display on a sideboard top. A buyer can place it among other antique trinkets in a living room, hallway, or study as an ornamental desk accessory or small decorative display item.

A Victorian silver wheel pin cushion is a small sewing accessory crafted in a circular disc shape, featuring decorative silver casingoften embossed or repousse workedsandwiching a fabric cushion used to store sewing pins or needles.

Traditional Victorian pin cushions were constructed using sterling silver or silver plate, filled with materials like wool or sawdust, and encased in silk, velvet, or plush fabrics to safely hold pins without causing rust.

Authentic Victorian examples typically feature British hallmarks or makers marks indicating silver purity, assay town, and date letter, alongside period-appropriate hand-chased relief details and natural age-related patina to the metal and fabric insert.

Small antique silver sewing accessories can be displayed inside a glass curio cabinet, arranged on a decorative tray alongside vintage haberdashery, or presented within a wall-mounted shadow box display.

Clean the metal casing gently using a soft silver polishing cloth while avoiding liquid cleaners or water contact with the fabric cushion to prevent staining, shrinkage, or corrosion of internal components.
