This Georgian silver filigree basket pin cushion takes the form of a miniature container holding a green velvet cushion pad. The piece dates from circa 1800 and exhibits a delicate silver filigree basket frame with a rope-twist articulated handle and conforming decorations on the base. The silver work shows silver and green coloration throughout. The miniature proportions measure 4 cm high, 2 cm wide, and 1.5 cm deep. Display this small accessory on a bookshelf or desk in a traditional study or living space as a decorative accessory. The object brings a touch of period craftsmanship to interior styling without occupying significant space. Collectors of antique sewing tools and small silver artifacts will find it a practical addition to an existing collection or a display cabinet.

A Georgian silver filigree pin cushion is a functional sewing accessory produced during the Georgian era, characterised by intricate silver wirework designed to hold sewing pins and needles.

These items were crafted by twisting and soldering thin strands of silver wire into detailed openwork frames, which were then fitted with velvet or wool pads to hold pins.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit period-appropriate construction methods, natural age-related oxidisation, and occasionally silver hallmarks or makers marks on larger structural wire components.

Small antique silver accessories can be displayed on styled bookshelves, inside glass cabinet displays, or placed on a vanity tray alongside other historic silver objects.

Silver filigree should be dusted gently with a soft brush, avoiding harsh silver polish liquids that can become trapped in the delicate openwork or damage the fabric insert.
