Edwardian silver and glassware, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often reflects refined elegance, drawing inspiration from earlier Georgian and Neo-Classical motifs while incorporating lighter, more delicate craftsmanship than heavy Victorian pieces.

These items typically combine sterling silver, hallmarked to indicate purity and assay office origin, with hand-blown or mould-blown lead crystal or flint glass, frequently embellished with wheel-cut or acid-etched decorative patterns.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks on the silver lidincluding the makers mark, standard mark, assay office mark, and date letteras well as the weight, hand-finished detailing of the metal embossing, and the characteristic wear patterns on the base of the glass.

Such pieces function effectively as decorative tabletop accessories, bringing reflective metallic accents and historical texture when placed on dressing tables, mantelpieces, or open shelving within transitional or classic schemes.

Maintenance involves gentle cleaning with a soft microfibre cloth for the glass and specialised, non-abrasive silver polish applied sparingly to the metal lid to preserve the patination and prevent damage to delicate repousse details.
