Norwegian silver and enamel work rose to prominence in the early 20th century, particularly through master workshops such as David-Andersen, combining traditional silversmithing with vibrant guilloche enamel techniques influenced by the Art Deco movement.

These pieces typically feature sterling silver frames or screw caps combined with translucent vitreous enamel over engine-turned guilloche patterns, paired with cut or moulded crystal glass bases.

Authenticity is verified through makers marks and hallmarks stamped into the silver, typically indicating silver fineness such as 830S or 925S alongside the company logo, combined with the precision and clarity of the guilloche enamel.

These small decorative objects integrate well into contemporary spaces when displayed on polished surfaces such as sideboards, cabinets, or open shelving, adding a subtle touch of historical colour and metallic sheen.

Preservation requires avoiding abrasive polishes on the enamel surfaces, cleaning the silver components gently with a specialised microfibre cloth, and storing the items away from direct sunlight to protect the coloured glass layer.
