Victorian silver-mounted glassware typically features sterling silver collars, mounts, or stoppers applied to blown or moulded glass bodies, combining utility with decorative craftsmanship popular during the 19th century.

These items were crafted using lead crystal or soda-lime glass, often infused with minerals like manganese or gold to achieve specific colours, and paired with hallmarked sterling silver.

Authentic pieces feature clear hallmarks on the silver components indicating the makers mark, assay office, and date letter, alongside characteristic pontil marks and glass impurities consistent with 19th-century manufacturing techniques.

An antique decanter can be displayed on a bar cart, sideboard, or open shelving to introduce historical character, vibrant colour, and reflective metallic accents to a modern interior.

Clean antique glass gently using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes, and polish the silver mounts with a specialized silver cloth while keeping moisture away from historic paper labels.
