Charles Horner was a renowned British jeweller and silversmith based in Halifax, England, famous for manufacturing high-quality silver thimbles and novelty items primarily from the late Victorian period through the early 20th century.

These decorative objects typically combine precious metals such as sterling silver or gilt brass with organic materials like mother of pearl, nacre, tortoiseshell, and ivory.

Authentic pieces generally feature the characteristic makers mark, usually the CH monogram inside a shield or cartouche, alongside traditional British silver hallmarks indicating the assay office and date letter.

Small antique collectables work well displayed within glass cabinets, on vanity trays, or styled upon bookshelves to add a layer of historic interest and curated detail to a room.

Silver should be cleaned periodically with a specialist non-abrasive polish to remove tarnish, while mother of pearl requires gentle dusting and protection from harsh chemicals and prolonged direct sunlight.
