Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Napkin clips, also known as napkin fasteners, became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a refined dining accessory used to secure napkins to a diners clothing before meals.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hallmarking, intricate hand-engraving, repousse work, and sprung clip mechanisms.

Authenticity is verified by checking for proper silver hallmarks, makers marks, appropriate patination, and the construction quality characteristic of period manufacturing.

They can be displayed within glass table-top cabinets, incorporated into formal dining table settings, or housed in dedicated collector display cases.

Preservation involves storing them in tarnish-resistant cloth, cleaning periodically with specialised silver polish, and avoiding abrasive materials that could damage engraved details.
