FAQs

The Regency style, spanning the early 19th century in Britain, draws heavy inspiration from classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian architecture, characterised by symmetrical proportions, restrained ornamentation, and architectural motifs such as columns and pilasters.

Cabinet makers and craftsmen predominantly utilised rich timbers like mahogany, rosewood, and walnut, frequently accented with cast brass mounts, gilded details, and finely carved classical wood elements.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit period-accurate joinery techniques, hand-carved details rather than cast resin, patination appropriate for the age, and traditional finishing methods such as shellac French polish.

Pairing classical wooden lamps with minimalist or modern furniture creates a sophisticated transitional aesthetic, allowing the historical form to act as a grounded focal point against neutral walls.

Maintain wooden bases by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally applying a high-quality beeswax to nourish the timber, whilst ensuring electrical components are professionally inspected for safety.
