Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Georgian era spans the reigns of the four King Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and an evolution from ornate rococo designs to cleaner neoclassical lines.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver, often featuring gilt interiors known as parcel-gilding to protect the metal from corrosive salts, and were produced using traditional techniques such as raising, casting, and hand-engraving.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks struck into the metal, which typically include the makers mark, standard mark, town mark indicating the assay office, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Antique silver pieces add a layer of historical contrast and reflective metallic texture when displayed on dining tables, sideboards, or open shelving within contemporary spaces.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently using a specialist non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip the natural patina and damage delicate hallmarks.
