Art Nouveau, known as Jugendstil in German-speaking countries, emerged around 1890 and is characterised by organic, fluid lines, asymmetrical plant motifs, and natural forms that broke away from historical revival styles.

These items typically combine sterling or continental silver frames, often pierced or cast, with hand-blown glass liners and matching miniature spoons, reflecting high standards of silversmithing craftsmanship.

Authenticity is verified through makers marks, continental or sterling silver purity hallmarks, construction methods such as hand-piercing, and the integration of period-specific stylistic motifs.

These decorative pieces add historic character and refined detail when displayed on a dining table or sideboard, pairing effectively with both contemporary minimalist and traditional table settings.

Silver frames should be gently cleaned with a specialized non-abrasive silver polish, avoiding contact with glass liners and salt residues, which can cause corrosion if left in prolonged contact with the metal.
