Edwardian silver reflects the elegance and opulence of the period from 1901 to 1910, frequently featuring intricate floral scrolls, neoclassical motifs, and light, graceful pierced work influenced by French eighteenth-century designs.

Edwardian tableware was predominantly crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked to guarantee purity, often alongside Sheffield plate and Britannia metal for specific utilitarian or decorative items.

Authentication relies upon inspecting official hallmarks stamped into the metal, which typically include a makers mark, a standard mark indicating sterling purity, a town assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production.

Antique silver accessories introduce polished contrast and textural depth when displayed on open shelving, within dining room cabinets, or utilised functionally as part of a curated table setting.

Preservation requires storing silver in tarnish-resistant cloth or anti-tarnish bags, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners, and gently polishing with a dedicated microfibre cloth and mild silver dip only when necessary.
