Art Deco jewellery, prominent from the 1920s to the 1930s, is characterised by geometric shapes, stylised symmetry, and the use of contrasting materials such as silver, marcasite, and faceted gemstones.

German pieces from this period frequently utilised low-to-mid grade silver, often stamped with hallmarks like Germany or 835, paired with pave-set marcasite stones and central bezel-set coloured quartz or glass.

Authentic pieces typically feature period-appropriate construction methods such as open-box settings, hand-cut marcasite stones held in prongs rather than glue, and traditional C-clasps or early safety catches.

Vintage brooches can be worn traditionally on lapels and collars, or repurposed to fasten scarves, adorn hats, or accent the waistline of a tailored dress.

Silver and marcasite pieces should never be submerged in liquid cleaner, as moisture can cause the glued marcasite stones to dislodge. Instead, use a dry, soft microfibre cloth to gently polish the metal surfaces.
