Chinese Imari is a style of porcelain produced in China for export during the Qing dynasty, characterized by a distinct colour palette of underglaze blue, iron red, and gold highlights, inspired by Japanese Imari wares.

Authentic pieces are crafted from high-fired kaolin clay porcelain, hand-painted with cobalt blue and iron-red mineral pigments under a clear glaze, often finished with gilt accents before secondary firing.

Authentification involves examining the body for signs of age such as wear on the base, subtle iron-spotting in the glaze, variations in hand-painted brushwork, and inspecting any wiring hardware for historical conversion methods.

These lamps serve as striking focal points when paired with neutral, modern silk or linen shades, placed on sideboards or consoles to introduce rich historical colour and texture into a room.

Dust the porcelain gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or submerging the lamp in water to protect both the antique glaze and the electrical components.
