Mid century Scandinavian enamel jewellery gained international prominence during the 1950s, characterised by clean lines, nature-inspired motifs, and vibrant guilloche or opaque enamel work applied to silver.

These pieces are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often finished with a gold wash known as vermeil or silver gilt, and detailed with vitreous glass enamel.

Authentic pieces typically feature makers marks and hallmarks stamped on the reverse side, alongside precise guilloche texturing beneath translucent or opaque enamel layers.

Vintage brooches can be pinned to lapels, coat collars, silk scarves, or structured knitwear to add a focal point of colour and metallic texture.

Clean gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical dips, ultrasonic cleaners, and prolonged exposure to moisture to protect the delicate enamel and gilt surface.
