Windsor seating tradition originated in the English countryside, utilising vernacular woodworking techniques where legs and spindles are wedged directly into a solid carved seat.

These pieces typically feature a combination of native hardwoods such as elm for the sculpted seat and ash or beech for the turned legs and stretchers, joined using traditional mortise and tenon or wedged construction.

Authenticity is indicated by tool marks from adzes or scutches on the underside of the seat, hand-turned irregularities on the legs, natural timber shrinkage, and accumulated patination from extensive historical use.

This versatile piece functions effectively as a minimalist side table, a plant stand, or extra seating in a contemporary room, introducing organic texture and historic character to clean architectural lines.

Maintain the timber by avoiding direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations, applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood surface and preserve the historic patina.
