The George V era spans from 1910 to 1936, characterised by a blend of traditional craftsmanship, revival styles, and early Art Deco influences, often featuring clean lines alongside classical motifs.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid sterling silver sheets mounted over a wooden or velvet-backed core, joined with hinged metal fixings and secured with backing boards.

Authenticity is verified through clear British hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include the assay office mark, standard mark indicating sterling silver, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Placing the frame on a dark wood surface or a modern marble mantelpiece creates a striking contrast that highlights the reflective metallic finish and adds a layer of curated history to the room.

Use a soft microfibre cloth and a specialist non-abrasive silver polish to gently remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage the underlying metal and hallmarks.
