FAQs

Napkin rings became popular in European dining customs during the early 19th century as a way to identify household members napkins between weekly washings.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver using techniques such as stamping, engraving, and hand-soldering, often presented in fitted leather or velvet-lined cases.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, indicating the assay office, standard of silver, and date letter corresponding to the period of manufacture.

Antique silver accessories can be displayed on dining tables or open shelving to introduce metallic contrast and historical texture to contemporary dining spaces.

Preserve antique silver by storing it in tarnish-resistant cloths or fitted boxes, and clean it periodically with specialised non-abrasive silver polish to maintain the metal finish.
