Art Deco is a design movement from the 1920s and 1930s characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised motifs, and the combination of traditional craftsmanship with industrial materials.

These items were typically crafted using hand-blown or cut lead crystal, sterling silver mounts, and applied vitreous enamel such as guilloche work on the lids.

Authentic pieces often feature makers marks or silver hallmarks stamped on the metal mounts, alongside hand-turned engine-turning under translucent enamel layers.

It can be displayed on a mirrored vanity tray, a marble bathroom counter, or a glass-fronted display cabinet to reflect light and add a touch of period elegance.

Store them away from direct sunlight to prevent enamel fading, clean silver gently with a specialist non-abrasive cloth, and avoid submerging pieces with cemented or lined components in water.
