Art Deco jewellery, prominent during the 1920s and 1930s, is characterised by geometric shapes, stylised motifs, symmetrical designs, and a strong emphasis on contrasting gemstones and metals.

Jewellery from this era frequently utilised platinum, yellow gold, and white gold settings, paired with central cabochon or faceted gemstones surrounded by small old-cut diamonds.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-cut transitional or single-cut diamonds, traditional prong or millegrain settings, and natural signs of age such as slight metal wear and characteristic opal play-of-colour.

An antique cocktail ring serves as a statement piece and can be worn alone on the hand to draw focus, or paired with minimalist contemporary gold bands for an eclectic, mixed-era look.

Opals contain water and are sensitive to sudden temperature changes, harsh chemicals, and ultrasonic cleaners; they should be cleaned gently with a soft damp cloth and stored separately from harder gemstones.
