This hand-knotted wool carpet originates from the Tetex Munich carpet manufacturing company during the early part of the 20th century in 1930. The piece displays a Caucasian style with a terracotta red field enclosing three large geometric medallions. Surrounding the central field are distinct light blue and cream patterned borders decorated with latch-hook motifs, star shapes, and stylised zoomorphic forms including small figures of birds and animals. Additional smaller octagonal and diamond-shaped geometric medallions fill the spaces between the main central motifs. The carpet measures 177 cm high, 92 cm wide, and 1 cm deep. This rug suits placement within an English Country House interior setting, functioning as a practical floor covering for a hallway, study, or living room space. The construction utilizes soft wool fibers forming an even pile across the surface. The design incorporates a palette of terracotta red, deep blue, cream, light blue, and muted green tones throughout the geometric and figurative elements. The piece maintains an even pile and remains in overall condition ready for domestic use.

Kazak carpets originate from the South Caucasus region, woven primarily by nomadic and village weavers during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They are characterised by high wool pile, saturated natural dyes, and dramatic geometric compositions.

Traditional Caucasian rugs are hand-knotted using locally sourced hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation structure. Dyes were historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, creating subtle colour variations throughout the weave.

Authentic pieces display distinct knotting irregularities, natural dye abrash, and a soft, flexible wool foundation. They feature bold geometric iconography such as latch hooks, stepped octagons, and stylized animal motifs.

Geometric tribal carpets serve as visual anchor points when placed on polished wood or flagstone flooring. The defined structural patterns complement minimalist contemporary furnishings as well as traditional period furniture.

Routine care requires gentle suction vacuuming without a rotating beater bar to prevent thread damage. Professional cleaning should be undertaken by a specialist hand-washer to preserve the natural lanolin within the wool fibres.
